Unbelievably, we only have FIVE weeks left of this school year! That means our Grad Trip is fast approaching. We had a discussion with the students yesterday about a number of items that will be required of them for the trip - I've summed that discussion up here for you so that you're on the same page as they are!
On Monday, June 4 - students need to be at school at 7:30 AM (please do not arrive before this time, as teachers will not be arriving until 7:30 as well). The bus will leave promptly at 8.
On Wednesday, June 6 - students will be arriving back at the school between 4:00 and 5:00 PM. Please be available to pick your child up for these times.
Rules during the trip:
- Cellphones are not permitted on the trip;
- During free time activities, students must stay in a group of a minimum of THREE students and are NEVER alone;
- While at the hotel, students are not allowed in other students' rooms;
- Evenings - students cannot leave rooms after 10:00 PM, unless it's an emergency.;
- Students are expected to adhere to Fieldcrest's dress code (for bathing suits, we recommend that students bring the "suit that covers the most").
Money:
Students have to pay for at least two of their lunches (three if they don't bring one on the first day). We estimate $10-15 for lunches, so a minimum of about $50 for food is suggested. For souvenirs, arcades, and activities on Clifton Hill, it will be at your discretion - in the past, we've found that students who bring a total of around $100 have enough to sustain them for the three days.
Supervision:
The Fieldcrest Staff attending the trip are: Darrell Bax, Stephanie Skelton, Adrianne Schroder, Jenn Murray, and David Brownlee. We will supervise students during the day. At night, we have a night-time security person who will be stationed in our hallway, and who can contact us if they sense an issue in the rooms at night.
Medication:
We will collect any and all medications on Monday morning at 7:30 - this includes prescription medications, Advil, Tylenol, and any other OTC that the students will be bringing. Students are NOT to have their own medication on them (inhalers and epipens are the exceptions). Mrs. Schroder will be administering the medication throughout the trip. All specific details should be directed to her on Monday morning.
I've added a list of "what to bring" on the student blog. If you have any further questions, please contact me at skelton.fes@gmail.com (sometimes e-mails don't reach my mail1.scdsb account - seems to block gmail and hotmail e-mails).
Looking forward to the trip!
Miss Skelton :)
