Over the next few weeks, there are several things going on at Fieldcrest.
We have begun a "My Hero" project in our class. Through iEarn Canada, we will be interacting with classes all over the world (our current learning circle has schools from the USA, Belarus, Russia, Slovenia, and Mexico). We will be participating in surveys, video conferences, e-mails, and face-to-face chats with students in these classes. The "My Hero" projects that students have begun will be shared with these students as well, and they will share theirs with us. Please ask your child about the "My Hero" project, and who they've chosen - many of them are well on their way to completing the first organizer!
We will be collecting canned goods for the local Food Bank (Halloween for Hunger). If you have good that you would like to donate, please send them in with your child. All donations will earn students points for their house colours.
Our annual Dance-a-thon is happening on October 31st. Fundraising information went home early last week. All funds raised will go back to our school's library; it will be used for new books, magazines, and media literacy resources. Students are invited to wear costumes the day of the dance.
Also on October 31st, our female students will be getting their first HPV shot. There will be two more follow up shots throughout the remainder of the school year. More information will be coming home within the next week.
Students will be participating in VIP (Values, Influences, Peers) every week for four weeks - Officer Elisabeth Aschwanden will visit our class every Wednesday for a month, speaking to our students about drug and alcohol use, bullying, and decision making. If you have questions about the program, please contact me through e-mail or at Fieldcrest.
Lastly, we will be having guests in to teach our students Dance. The group is called "Moving Arts" and is going to be a part of our program for two weeks (the end of November to the beginning of December). There is a $10 per student cost. Information will be sent home within the next couple of days.
Thank you for reading!
