Hi everyone,
I can't believe it's been a month since I posted - February went by in the blink of an eye!
We had a pretty exciting bus-cancellation day at Fieldcrest today. To start, we bid a fond farewell to our beloved Mme Evans today; March 1st is the date of the beginning of her retirement. We wish her well and hope that she comes back to visit! Ms. Teoh will be taking over for Mme Evans until the March Break. After the March Break, our new permanent French teacher will be joining us (and I'll post her name when I'm sure I have the right spelling!). Another highlight of our day was the Power of One assembly. All year, we have focused on how one person can make a difference. Over the course of the last five or six months, Fieldcrest fundraised over $1800 to help build a school in Sierra Leone. Today, we were able to present the cheque to Neverest, one of the bands that played at the We Day festival in Toronto. Pretty exciting to have celebrities in our building - many of our students were starstruck and rendered speechless!
Thanks to all students who participated in our assembly today, and who have made efforts to make a difference at Fieldcrest - that's our focus for the remainder of the year. We've seen what one person can do, and now it's time to put that philosophy into action!
Tomorrow is our Electives day - all students are to come to our classroom in the morning to have their attendance taken, and then will be off to their electives/activities. If the buses are canceled, Electives will be postponed - check in at scdsb.on.ca to see if buses are canceled in our area (efforts are made to post this information before 6:30 am).
I'll post again soon - won't wait a full month this time!
