Hi everyone,
Just wanted to touch base and give you a few updates about what's happening in and around our classrooms so far this year.
Language/Drama
Students are preparing for Drama presentations that are directly linked to the Literature Circle novels that they have recently completed. The presentations will be held on Thursday and Friday in our classrooms.
Math
We're just completing a Fractions unit - please see the link at the side (to the student site) to see what will be on this Friday's test.
Geography
Students are working on some new Geography concepts this week - "People at Work" - it's a short unit and will be done by Friday.
Health
In conjunction with Ms. Dekkers' weekly Health lessons (Day 5), Mr Bax and I will be starting our Healthy Living - Growth and Development unit next week. A letter is going to be coming home on February 2nd outlining the topics. If you're interested in coming in to view teaching materials, please feel free to e-mail us or call us at the school to arrange an appointment.
Phys. Ed./Dance
We are in the final phases of our Dance unit in Square Dancing - if you haven't had a fun dinner conversation about this one yet, ask your child about tying the yellow ribbon around the old oak tree! Students will be creating dances on Friday and performing on Monday.
Electives forms were sent home on Monday of this week. If your child is participating in electives at a location that is not Fieldcrest, please make sure that all paperwork is complete and signed by both you and your child. If your child is attending a workshop at Fieldcrest, a form went home with pricing and a space for signatures. We are treating these as permission forms for students, so please return them with the cost for your child's activities (the form still needs to be signed, even for "no-cost" activities). Our hopes are to have all paperwork in as early as next week and as late as February 13th. Thank you in advance for your attention to this!
